Attic fire extinguished in Bemiss neighborhood Thursday evening

Spokane firefighters quickly extinguished an attic fire in the Bemiss neighborhood Thursday evening.

Neighbors reported the fire in the 400 block of East Kiernan Avenue shortly after 6:40 p.m. Thursday, according to a news release form the Spokane Fire Department. Flames leapt into the attic of the home before firefighters arrived, and crews had to evacuate the home before extinguishing the blaze in about 45 minutes.

Two people living in the home safely exited before firefighters arrived. No injuries were reported, according to the news release. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
