Man hospitalized after being shot near Nine Mile Falls on Thursday evening

A man was taken to the hospital Thursday evening with a gunshot wound following what was initially reported as a road rage incident, according to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office.

The shooting occurred just before 5 p.m. at Seven Mile Road and State Route 291 northwest of Spokane. The highway was closed briefly Thursday evening while detectives investigated the incident.

Spokane County Sheriff Cpl. Mark Gregory said another man was detained following the shooting. It’s unknown if that man was taken into custody or charged with a crime.

The condition of the man shot was not immediately available Friday morning. Gregory said the man was conscious when he was taken to the hospital.
