Education Notebook: Cheri Stelzer earns ‘Above and Beyond’ award for West Valley band camp help

Cheri Stelzer recently received the West Valley High School Above and Beyond Award after being nominated by band director Jim Loucks. Stelzer facilitated many tasks at the WVHS band camp, including planning all meals and fitting all the student musician’s uniforms. The band students attended the school board meeting to cheer for Stelzer during the surprise presentation of the award.

Glover Middle School hosting design open house

Glover Middle School, of Spokane Public Schools, will hold a design open house 5-7 p.m., today. Community members are welcome to drop by the cafeteria to see the new campus layout and provide feedback to the SPS Capital Project staff and the architects. The new building is scheduled to open in the 2021-22 school year.

Glover Middle School is located at 2404 W. Longfellow Ave.

Cheney Middle School to host meeting on equestrian team

Cheney Middle School will hold an informational meeting 7 p.m. Tuesday for the Cheney High School Equestrian Team. Attendees can learn about joining WAHSET, a nonprofit interscholastic organization that facilitates opportunities for high school equestrian athletes to participate in competitions. The meeting will also cover expected costs and general information for practices.

Cheney Middle School is at 740 W. Betz Road, Cheney.
