One additional Spokane County coronavirus death reported Sunday; Fairchild to assist food bank effort

Airmen from Fairchild Air Force Base are helping local food banks package and distribute food during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Second Harvest Inland Northwest and Northwest Harvest Inland food banks received a combined total of 20 airmen to serve alongside volunteers as food banks see an increased need during the pandemic.

Positive cases continue to rise in Spokane County with 10 people testing positive for COVID-19 on Sunday. One additional person, a man in his 50s, has died.

There are a total of 219 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Spokane County with 35 people hospitalized, one more hospitalization than Saturday.

The 11 people who have died of the virus in Spokane County were all over the age of 50, and nine cases were older than 60, according to data released by the Spokane Regional Health District. The number of positive tests continues to be a small percentage of the total number of tests administered, with a positive rate of 3.6% as of Sunday.

Statewide there were more than 450 new cases reported Sunday, bringing the total to 7,984. Of those tested, 8.6% have received positive results. There were 28 deaths reported Sunday, bringing Washington’s total to 338.

In nearby Kootenai County, there were four new cases reported Sunday, bringing the total in the Panhandle Health District area to 44. In the state, there were 24 new cases reported Sunday, bringing Idaho’s total to 1,101 confirmed cases. There were no new deaths reported in the state Sunday.
