Kyle MacLachan hosts online ‘Twin Peaks’ pilot viewing party for cult classic’s 30th anniversary

Who killed Laura Palmer? Isn’t it incredible to think the question was first uttered three decades ago?

Grab some coffee, doughnuts and a slice of cherry pie (even though that’s a lot of caffeine and sugar): Kyle MacLachan, with guest Madchen Amick, is hosting an online viewing party today of the “Twin Peaks” pilot to commemorate the cult classic’s 30th anniversary.

The actor, who portrayed FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper, announced the news on Twitter that he will start live tweeting at 11:30 a.m. and hop on Instagram Live for a live Q+A with Amick, who portrayed waitress Shelly Johnson, at 1:20 p.m.

“Twin Peaks” was scheduled to celebrate its milestone anniversary at Graceland in Memphis, Tennessee, before the novel coronavirus pandemic, but the gathering has been rescheduled for Halloween weekend.

To “Twin Peaks” fans, which ran for two seasons on ABC from 1990-91, the Salish Lodge & Spa in Snoqualmie will always be the Great Northern Hotel on the TV series.

Creators David Lynch and Mark Frost revisited “Twin Peaks” in 2017 on Showtime. Despite being a longtime time, I made it through maybe seven episodes – it was just too disjointed and odd, even by “Twin Peaks” standards.

MacLachlan, 61, was born in Yakima and is a vintner and owner of the Pursued by Bear winery in Walla Walla. Now back to that coffee and cherry pie.
