Police arrest ‘prolific offender’ suspected of driving a stolen car, possessing drugs
A repeat offender with felony warrants and drugs was arrested late last week while driving a stolen car, Spokane police said.
Devron M. Parrish, 32, was arrested Friday after a Spokane police officer spotted a gray Dodge Durango that matched a stolen vehicle report, according to a Spokane Police Department statement.
The officer ran the plates at the intersection of North Madison Street and Maxwell Avenue. He found the plates matched the stolen car and attempted to pull Parrish over.
Parrish initially ignored the officer’s lights and siren but eventually pulled over.
When Parrish stepped out of the car, a black container fell on the ground. Investigators say it contained heroin and methamphetamine.
Parrish was charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle and two counts of possession of a controlled substance. At the time of his arrest, Parrish had an outstanding warrant from the Department of Corrections for an unrelated assault.
Parrish’s extensive criminal history qualifies him as what police call a “prolific offender” and includes felony arrests for drug-related, nonviolent and violent crimes.
