2 new coronavirus cases and one death reported Sunday by Spokane Regional Health District
After a modest increase in new confirmed coronavirus cases in the Spokane area this week, only two new cases were reported Sunday by health officials.
The new cases reported Sunday bring the total to 348 in Spokane County. One new death was reported by the Spokane Regional Health District for a total of 20.
Health officials reported 41 confirmed cases for the week ending Sunday. The previous week there had been 33 reported cases.
Spokane Mayor Nadine Woodward continued a call for the creation of a regional plan to reopen businesses on social media Sunday morning, joining a panel discussion aired by a TV station in Seattle that included her and the mayors of Marysville and Kent.
“We need a regional approach to opening our economy – not a one-size fits all recovery,” Woodward wrote on Twitter.
Statewide there were 13,521 cases Sunday evening, over 200 more than the day before. The Washington Health Department also reported 11 new deaths, for a total of 749.
Across the Idaho border in Kootenai County there were no new cases for the third day in a row, leaving the total at 59 cases and no deaths, according to the Panhandle Health District.
In Idaho there were 1,897 cases, 10 more than the day before and no new deaths as of Sunday evening.
