Organizer of ‘Open carry if you care’ rally in CdA arrested

The organizer of the “Open carry if you care” rally in downtown Coeur d’Alene Saturday was arrested for a pre-existing misdemeanor warrant before the event could begin, KHQ reported.

Casey Whalen, 42, was arrested for falsifying and/or concealing public records. Coeur d’Alene police told KHQ the arrest was not related to the open carry rally.

Several dozen people did show up to march down Sherman Avenue on Saturday night in support of Second Amendment rights, KHQ reported

The event Facebook page was removed prior to the start of the rally because it violated community guidelines, a Facebook spokesperson told KHQ.
