U.S. Bank awards $25,760 grant to SNAP for foreclosure prevention

U.S. Bank has awarded SNAP a $25,760 grant that will assist with foreclosure prevention for Eastern Washington homeowners during the coronavirus pandemic.

The U.S. Bank grant allows SNAP to continue offering housing counseling services with an emphasis on foreclosure prevention and lending to clients who have used loans from the organization, according to a news release.

Since 1986, SNAP has offered HUD-certified housing counseling programs, which include free homebuyer education, prepurchase and credit counseling, and down payment assistance for low-income families.

“We know that now, more than ever, SNAP is leveraging and stretching every dollar to meet the need for housing services in this unprecedented time of challenge,” Nicole Bascomb-Green, U.S. Bank’s vice president of community affairs, said in a statement. “At U.S. Bank we believe that every individual and family deserve access to safe, accessible and affordable homes. We hope this grant can help stabilize the Spokane community during this crisis.”

In March, U.S. Bank invested $50,000 in SNAP for an online learning platform, which the agency has continued to use during the pandemic.
