Five stellar chicken sandwiches available at Spokane restaurants

Spokane has five local chicken sandwiches that blow Chick-fil-A completely out of the water. Go support these amazing local owners, chefs and industry workers.

Logan Tavern

For now, the Fried Chicken Sandwich at Logan is a Thursday-only special. I say “for now” because my plan is if I eat enough of them, Logan will be forced to place it on the menu full time. I can’t explain how much I crave that mix of crispy buttermilk fried chicken, hot honey and guacamole.

Plus, ask Nehemiah Zilar or Brittany Propp to “make it sexy,” and, for an extra buck, they will take your already salacious sando and give it some Jessica Rabbit-esque curves. Not following me? Pop by on a Thursday and find out.

Hogwash Whiskey Den

If you’ve been around me for 10 minutes, you’ve probably heard the word Hogwash come out of my mouth. I’m like a fatter, less-mustached version of chef C.J. Callahan, so it’s no real surprise that the thought of his Jamboni Chicken Sando is what gets me through these trying times.

This guy smokes his own ham, makes his own pickles and just got back from Chicago where he was doing sold-out fried chicken pop-ups. There’s not a chef in town who takes his “Fat Kidding” this serious. Yup, Fat Kidding is a verb.

If you know, you know. Chef Tony Brown’s take no prisoners sandwich philosophy is in full effect when it comes to his Nashville Hot Chicken Sando. There are no frills or gimmicks here, just fried chicken, hot sauce and the best housemade pickles around. This is one of the best sandwiches in town, and what is scary … it’s not even the best sandwich on the menu!

No-Li Brewhouse

You might know No-Li Brewhouse for its award-winning beer, but over the last year and with the addition of chef Avont Grant, No-Li has nestled itself atop the heap for high-quality pub food. The cornerstones of that accolade are the Bavarian pretzels and chicken sandwiches. No cutting corners, just hand-breaded Southern fried chicken with the fixings. Did I mention beer?

Incrediburger & Eggs

Truth be told, you could pick just about any chicken sandwich off chef Adam Hegsted’s menu, especially the kimchi-covered Korean Honey Butter, but I couldn’t help but feature the Chicken and the Egg because I want egg yolk running off everything. It is housemade buttermilk biscuits, honey mustard aioli and some of the best crispy bird around.
