A gap in understanding

I find it highly ironic that on a day when the front page of The Spokesman-Review was covering a surge in COVID-19 hospitalizations that threatens to overwhelm our healthcare system, Sue Lani Madsen was complaining about “mandates” again.

I bet she says “safety third” until the moment she or a member of her family develops a moderate to severe case of COVID and then she wants to be treated by those same medical professionals whose advice she previously disdained.

Perhaps less focus on “my rights” would be in order and a little more thought for the collective good of our family, friends and neighbors. If you hate the governor so much that you can’t follow state requirements, then perhaps do it out of respect for our healthcare workers who put their lives on the line every day to get us through this public health emergency.
