Nebraska steel provider acquires Spokane-based business

A Spokane-based steel service company has been acquired by a Nebraska-based Norfolk Iron & Metal, Co., in a transaction that is scheduled to close by the end of the month.

The deal would add The Coeur d’Alenes Company’s three locations into Norfolk Iron & Metal’s growing northwest operations, according to a news release.

“Cd’A Metals’ complementary capabilities combined with its long history of success positions us well to further develop our business in the northwestern markets,” said Richard Robinson, CEO of NIM, said in a news release. “This investment represents a strategic opportunity to increase our capacity and geographic presence and is integral to our commitment to meet the growing needs of our customers.”

The Coeur d’Alenes Company, founded in 1884, provides bar and structural steel, plate and sheet products and ornamental iron. The deal would add it NIM, which is based in Norfolk, Nebraska. According to the release, NIM is one of the nation’s largest steel providers with 13 locations across the U.S.
