Spokane police advised people should avoid North Monroe Street for their commute home at the start of rush hour Tuesday after a two-car crash at West Rowan Avenue knocked down a power pole and left only one lane moving.
All southbound lanes were blocked by downed power lines and the power pole, and only one northbound lane was open, according to the police. The crash was reported just after 4:40 p.m., according to dispatch records.
Avista reported six people were without electricity in the area and projected power would be restored at 7:30 p.m., according to an outage map. No outages were reported at 9 p.m.
KHQ reported one person was taken to the hospital for an injured arm and the roadway was expected to reopen at 6 p.m.
