Presidential candidate Mike Bloomberg opens Tri-Cities region campaign office

Tri-City Herald

The Mike Bloomberg 2020 campaign announced plans to open an office Sunday, Feb. 16, to serve the Tri-Cities, Yakima and Central Washington state.

The office in Yakima will be the Democratic presidential candidate’s base for organizing voters in the region, said a news release. It will be one of 10 in Washington state. Bloomberg opened a campaign office Saturday in Spokane.

“Our organizing effort and investment in Central Washington put our campaign in a unique and exciting position to communicate with Washingtonians,” said Grant Lahmann, Bloomberg’s state director.

“We aren’t leaving any vote on the table,” he said in a release. “Our volunteers and organizers are reaching out to voters throughout Central Washington and spreading our message that Mike Bloomberg is the best candidate to beat Donald Trump and restore integrity to the White House.”

Bloomberg’s campaign to defeat Trump is “running full speed toward Washington’s March 10th primary,” said the release.

Campaign efforts in Washington will target and mobilize voters who have “traditionally been left behind by past presidential campaigns, including voters in Central Washington,” said the release.

The former mayor of New York City is a billionaire who built a global financial services, software and mass media empire.

The office event is 2-4 p.m. Sunday and is open to the public. Information will be available for undecided voters and for people interested in volunteering.

The campaign office is at 1220 S. 1st St. in Yakima.
