The man who died in an off-road vehicle crash in Nine Mile Falls Wednesday has been identified as Shad Bordwell.

Bordwell, 48, died from a blunt head injury, according to the Spokane County Medical Examiner.

The park was slick and muddy from recent weather. Bordwell was not wearing his seat belt but his young passenger was, according to Spokane County Sheriff’s Deputy Mark Gregory.

The child was treated for his minor injuries and then released.

There were no signs Bordwell was impaired by drugs or alcohol, Gregory said.

Seven Mile ORV Park, where the crash occurred, was hosting the annual Hangover Run on New Year’s Day.
