Spokane Valley Fire Department responds to 2nd apartment fire in 6 hours

The Spokane Valley Fire Department to its second apartment fire in six hours after a blaze broke out on a third-floor balcony on Saturday morning.

Firefighters responded to the fire on the 200 block of South Adams Street around 9 a.m. and quickly knocked down the blaze, according to a news release. The fire department upgraded the fire response, bringing personnel from the city, Spokane County District 9 and District 8 departments.

The fire was mostly contained to the balcony, a news release said. Two adults and two children were in the apartment at the time of the fire, and one woman was transported to a local hospital for smoke inhalation.

The fire department reported no further injuries to firefighters or residents. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
