Ensure elected officials are honest

I believe the gentleman who authored the recent comment that the time, effort and costs associated with finding that CMR used campaign monies illegally was a wasted effort (“A waste of time, money,” Dale Magart, Jan. 3). He is missing the point.

Bottom line is that we have to expend all efforts to ensure that the people we send to the House and Senate are honest people and performing their duties in accordance with the oath they take. If CMR’s hand was not slapped for illegally using the mere $7,500 or so … what would stop her from using $75,000 or $7,500,000? The result is that she now, as a result of her apparent dishonesty, is being watched.
