An 18-year-old died and three others were injured Saturday afternoon in a car crash near Twin Lakes, Idaho.

According to the Idaho State Police, Tytus W. Aske, 18, of Spirit Lake, was driving a Volkswagen Jetta south on Highway 41 when he lost control at about 1:45 p.m.

The car slid sideways into the northbound lanes and collided with a Ford F150 pickup driven by Ronnie L. Vaughn, 68, of Priest River, the ISP said.

Aske’s passenger, Andrew S. Lucas, 18, of Rathdrum, was pronounced dead at the scene. Aske was taken to Kootenai Health, as were Vaughn and his passenger, Debra A. Vaughn, 65. The hospital did not immediately provide an update on their conditions.

The ISP said every person involved in the crash was wearing a seatbelt.
