Helicopter crashes in Rathdrum; no injuries reported

Kootenai County deputies arrived on the scene of a helicopter crash in Rathdrum, near the intersection of Highway 41 and Wyoming Avenue just before 6 p.m. Tuesday, according to a Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office Facebook post.

Witness phone video released to KHQ shows the helicopter engulfed in flames and billowing smoke in a wheat field. The fire was out within about half an hour.

The incident commander told KHQ the two people on board survived with non-life-threatening injuries.

Occupants of the helicopter were transported to Kootenai Health to be treated for injuries from the accident, the post said.
