Chipotle Mexican Grill to open restaurant in north Spokane

Chipotle Mexican Grill is opening its second location in the region at Northpointe Plaza in north Spokane.

The fast-casual Mexican restaurant is opening at 9602 N. Newport Highway in early 2021, the company confirmed in an email Monday.

Chipotle filed a permit with the city last week to renovate more than 2,650 square feet of the 5,700-square-foot building currently occupied by Sweeto Burrito and Nudo Ramen House in Northpointe Plaza.

Chipotle did not provide additional details about the proposed restaurant, and property owner Vandervert Developments was not immediately available for comment .

The project architect is Omaha-based FHA Architects, which has designed more than 350 Chipotle restaurants nationwide.

Chipotle, founded in Denver in 1993, has more than 2,600 restaurants in the U.S., Canada, the United Kingdom, France and Germany.

The Newport Beach, California-based restaurant chain has a location in Spokane at 930 N. Division St. that opened in 2012.
