Ronald McDonald House completes $14.6 million expansion project

Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Inland Northwest has completed a $14.6 million expansion of its campus near downtown Spokane.

The project adds a 35,000-square-foot building with 32 guest rooms across the street from the existing Ronald McDonald House at 1015 W. Fifth Ave.

The expansion brings the nonprofit’s total guest rooms to 56 and reduces lodging wait time for families of children hospitalized with life-threatening diseases.

Prior to the expansion, families waited an average of 14 days for a room to open at the Ronald McDonald House, according to the nonprofit.

The new building includes 10 long-term guest suites, kitchens for families staying at the facility, laundry facilities, a movie room, a teen room, multiple play areas for children and two levels of secure parking.

Expansion construction began in 2018.

Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Inland Northwest is celebrating the expansion with a ribbon-cutting at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday across the street from the existing Ronald McDonald House.
