Police seeking additional evidence, public’s help investigating officer involved shooting in Okanogan County

Investigators are seeking help from anyone who may have witnessed or captured footage of a March 3 shooting involving an Okanogan county man, two deputies and an Omak Police detective.

The shooting occurred at around 11:30 a.m. on Main Street in Riverside, a town in Central Okanogan County, after deputies and an Omak police detective contacted Ryan E. Bass, 39, in his vehicle. Bass, who had a felony warrant, fired several shots towards officers, according to police. Law enforcement returned fire, injuring him.

Officers performed CPR before Bass was transported to Mid Valley Hospital in Omak, where he later died.

Neither the deputies nor the detective were injured and all three were placed on administrative leave.

The incident is being investigated by the North Central Washington Special Investigation Unit, which is a multi-jurisdictional team including Chelan County Sheriff’s Office, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, East Wenatchee Police Department, the Washington State Patrol and others.

Investigators are asking anyone who witnessed the incident, or has photos, videos or other evidence to contact Wenatchee Police Department Detective Nathan Hahn at 509-888-4251.

The North Central Washington Special Investigation Unit continues to seek additional witnesses and/or evidence related to the shooting on Tuesday, March 3rd at approximately 11:30 a.m.
