Blood pressure rising

My blood pressure had barely gotten back to normal after watching Channel 25 and the Republicans’ effort to attach some amendments to the horrible Comprehensive Sex Education Bill (Senate Bill 5395). TVW channel 25 had to issue a warning on their broadcast of the floor debate: “Mature subject matter – Viewer discretion advised.”

Rep. Joel Kretz announced in his newsletter – “The subject matter would make most of us blush and if I listed some of it here in this email update I may be violating the new Legislative Code of Conduct.” He had received over 5,000 emails from parents, teachers and school officials around the state asking him to fight against the Democratic comprehensive sex ed bill. Over 600 citizens signed in to testify against the bill.

Lt. Gov. Cyrus Habib serves as president of the state Senate and was the moderator. He was elected lieutenant governor of Washington state in November 2016. He has an impressive resume, was a Soros Fellow and practiced law at Perkins Coie Law Firm. Wasn’t that the law firm affiliated with Fusion GPS that compiled the nefarious Trump dossier?

Now my blood pressure is back up again. Shawn Vestal implies that those who object to “descriptive demonstrations” starting with kindergartners, are demeaning teachers (“Listen up! Teachers are not demonic,” March 11). Dedicated teachers have their hands full trying to teach their classes. I shouldn’t be surprised Vestal deliberately berates Rep. Jenny Graham and Rep. Matt Shea, who have been the brunt of much of his slander.

Trading pornography for prayer in schools is a slap in the face to parents and educators.

Ask Gov. Inslee to veto SB5395; call (360) 902-4111.
