Homeowner shoots at burglars, bullet strikes neighbor’s house

From staff reports

A Spokane homeowner fired shots at burglary suspects fleeing his property Tuesday evening in an SUV.

The man said he found a group of thieves running from his garage in the 5800 block of West Houston Avenue with armfuls of goods. They loaded into an SUV and were driving away when he fired his handgun at them.

One of the bullets struck a neighbor’s house, according to police reports. No one was injured.

The homeowner told investigators that he might have hit the SUV on the driver’s side. There were no reports of gunshot victims at area hospitals.

The homeowner’s doorbell camera showed a man covering his face and his hand while trying to open the homeowner’s front door.
