Second man sentenced for murder in drive-by shooting case gets more than 10 years

The second man who shot and killed a 21-year-old following an argument at a bar in July 2018 was sentenced to 123 months in prison on Monday.

Christen D. Ativalu-Ford, 18, of Pierce County, was charged with first-degree murder more than a year ago, after witnesses and fingerprints linked him to the shooting scene. He pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in February.

Police say Ativalu-Ford and Isiah J. Cavitt, 22, shot Kionte M. Bullard to death after an argument outside Lucky’s Bar in downtown Spokane, where Cavitt challenged Bullard to a fight, according to court documents.

The men later tracked Bullard to his girlfriend’s house on the 3000 block of North Nelson Street and killed him just after he placed his 1-month-old baby in his car.

Cavitt was sentenced to nearly 16 years in prison in September.

The woman who drove Ativalu-Ford and Cavitt to Bullard’s girlfriend’s home, Ashleigh Prado, 19, is awaiting trial. She was released from jail on her own recognizance in the fall, and Spokane’s three courts have postponed trials and out-of-custody hearings.
