1 dead after semi truck, pickup collide on Highway 195 south of Spangle

A 32-year-old Spangle man died early Saturday morning after his pickup truck crossed the center line of Highway 195 south of Spangle and collided with a semitruck.

The Chevrolet Silverado driven by Shane M. Remp came to rest in a ditch on the side of the highway after the crash with the driver side of a tractor-trailer driven by 48-year-old Joseph E. Reid, of Spokane Valley, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Remp died at the scene, WSP said. All lanes of were blocked at about 2 a.m. as WSP investigated the crash.

WSP reported it did not know if Remp was wearing a seat belt during the crash, or if drugs or alcohol were involved. Reid was wearing a seatbelt.
