A 26-year-old woman is accused of threatening people with a BB gun and driving under the influence during an alleged reckless driving incident and subsequent crash on Thursday night.

Police allege the incident began when driver Amanda Lipe passed a Spokane police corporal near West Northwest Boulevard and North Maple Street traveling at an estimated 60 mph around 8:45 p.m.

The corporal tried to pursue Lipe’s car but stopped due to safety concerns, according to a news release. Police say Lipe then caused a collision at North Division Street and East Indiana Avenue.

When Lipe got out of her car, she brandished what looked like a handgun and screamed at officers, as well as others in the area, but did not point it at anyone, according to a news release. Officers arrested her without incident following a short standoff.

An officer wrote in a search warrant that Lipe smelled of alcohol and slurred her words. She also admitted to drinking alcohol and consuming a bottle of cough syrup.

Lipe, who was transported to the hospital to receive treatment for minor injuries, was booked into Spokane County Jail around 12:45 a.m. on suspicion of eluding police, DUI, driving with a suspended license and brandishing a firearm.

No one else was injured during the incident, according to a news release.

Lipe has twice been convicted of second-degree assault, according to a news release.
