Tomato Street in downtown Spokane is permanently closing because of coronavirus-related uncertainties.

“With much thought, we decided to permanently close our River Park Square Tomato Street restaurant to focus our attention on our North Division Tomato Street,” Dean Haynes, owner of locally based Tomato Street, said in a statement Thursday.

The Tomato Street restaurant in downtown Spokane had been temporarily closed since the statewide stay-home order went into effect in mid-March.

“Many thanks to everyone who have supported our family at our downtown location. We will certainly miss you, but do look forward to seeing you up north,” Haynes said. “Likewise, our partner store in Coeur d’Alene is alive and well.”

Haynes opened Tomato Street at River Park Square in 2016.

River Park Square is owned by affiliates of the Cowles Co., which also publishes The Spokesman-Review.
