Suspected drunken driver hits median sends three passengers to hospital

A driver suspected of driving under the influence struck the center barrier of Interstate 90 in Spokane Valley early Monday morning in a crash that injured him and three passengers, the Washington State Patrol reported.

The driver, Spokane resident Ximena K. Delgado, will face charges of vehicular assault and driving under the influence, according to a WSP news release.

Delgado, 18, was driving a 2004 Volvo S60 east on I-90 at about 12:15 a.m. when it hit the center median near the Evergreen Road exit, crossed the road and crashed through a fence, WSP said.

Delgado and his passengers, Ellensburg resident Anthony D. Burden, 18, Spokane resident Takarah O. Duncan, 20, and Spokane Valley resident Isaiah T. Hutton, 19, were taken to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center, WSP said.

None of the occupants in the car were wearing seat belts.
