COVID-19

COVID-19 numbers stable in schools

The incidence of COVID-19 in area schools was largely stable after the Thanksgiving weekend, though Coeur d’Alene remains a hot spot.

On Monday, the district reported that 85 individuals are currently isolated after testing positive, while 60 staff members and 632 students are quarantined after close contact.

Those numbers are up slightly from last week.

Likewise, the Lakeland School District saw another jump, from 101 positives last week to 116 on Monday. The district does not divulge close contact numbers.

Numbers fell in both Mead and Central Valley as individuals came off quarantine.

As of Monday, Mead reported 58 current positive cases and 191 in quarantine. CV had 30 positives and 204 in quarantine.

Spokane, which updates its numbers weekly, reported Friday that it had 15 cases and 173 in quarantine. The district is continuing to bring more students back for in-person learning, with 2nd-graders beginning that process Monday.

Elsewhere, West Valley has 13 positive tests and 73 people in quarantine; Riverside reported eight and 33, respectively.
