Man suspected of hitting, severely injuring Lime scooter rider and driving away

Police arrested a man on suspicion of striking a Lime scooter rider with his car, causing life-threatening injuries and driving away Wednesday.

Wednesday around 5 a.m., a caller reported a vehicle northbound on Nevada Street struck a man riding a Lime scooter in the intersection. The man had been headed westbound on Wabash Avenue, according to a Spokane Police Department news release.

Instead of stopping, as required by law, the driver took off, the caller told police.

The Spokane Fire Department was treating the victim when officers arrived. The victim was transported to a local hospital for a life-threatening injury, the release said.

After Spokane police asked for the community’s help to find the suspect vehicle, a white 2008-2011 Subaru Impreza sedan, a citizen reported a white 2008 Subaru Impreza parked in the area of 7600 North Standard Street, the release said.

At the location, officers saw the vehicle had damage consistent with the earlier collision.

After interviewing two people, detectives had probable cause to arrest Mitchell J. Bonneville, 27, for hit and run with injuries, a felony charge, according to the release.

Bonneville was booked into Spokane County Jail.
