Washington governor debate tonight

Oct. 7, 2020 Updated Wed., Oct. 7, 2020 at 5:13 p.m.

Vice President Mike Pence and Sen. Kamala Harris aren’t the only ones squaring off in a political debate Wednesday night. Washington voters can get a look at their candidates for governor later in the evening.

The debate between incumbent Gov. Jay Inslee and his GOP challenger, Republic Police Chief Loren Culp, is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m., a half-hour after the vice presidential debate. It will be carried live on KHQ, KREM, KXLY and KSPS, as well as on TVW. The debate is taking place in the TVW studios in Olympia, with social distancing requirements and no audience.

It is the only debate scheduled so far between Inslee, who is seeking a rare third consecutive term, and Culp, a first-time candidate running a populist campaign.
