Where do they stand?

In this incredibly important election, my No. 1 issue is where candidates stand on solving the climate crisis. So I was thrilled that 350 Spokane asked all Spokane-area candidates their views on climate change, and what needs to be done to keep Earth livable.

Unfortunately, around a third of candidates – all Republicans – refused to answer any of the questions put to them. And this refusal comes after multiple requests from 350 Spokane and from concerned citizens like me. I find this inexcusable. Polls repeatedly show that most Americans agree that government must act to reduce the carbon pollution that causes climate change. If candidates refuse to share their views on this most urgent issue of our time, can we trust them to work for us in Olympia or Washington, DC? I certainly can’t.

Readers can see candidate responses to climate questions at 350Spokane.org (under the Resources tab choose “2020 Candidate Climate Views”.)

Let’s vote like our lives depend on it, because they surely do!
