Feds award grants to airports in Deer Park, Hayden

By Thomas Clouse The Spokesman-Review

The U.S. Department of Transportation on Tuesday announced it is awarding infrastructure grants for the Deer Park Airport and Pappy Boyington Field in Hayden, Idaho.

The grants are part of a $1.2 billion in airport safety and infrastructure grants through the Federal Aviation Administration. As part of that funding, Deer Park Airport will receive $1.17 million to build an apron and taxi lane, and the regional airport in Hayden will get $588,694 to build perimeter fencing.

As part of the same grant process, about $6 million will be used at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport to reduce noise for surrounding residences.

“This $1.2 billion federal investment will improve our nation’s airport infrastructure, enhance safety, and strengthen growth in local communities, which is especially important as the economy recovers from COVID-19,” U.S. Transportation Secretary Elaine L. Chao said in a news release.
