By Rachel Showalter Bellingham Herald

BELLINGHAM – A custom-built, waterfront home on Bellingham Bay is on the market for $3.69 million.

The more than 6,000-square-foot home at 1469 Island View Drive features artisan stone, timber structure, vaulted ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows to capture the views of the San Juan Islands.

“When you’re sitting in almost any room of this house, you have 180- to 360-degree views,” said property listing agent Alex Thomas in a telephone interview with the Bellingham Herald.

It also has five bedrooms, 4.5 bathrooms, five fireplaces, a library, a chef’s kitchen and a three-car garage. The home’s open concept is also great for entertaining, according to Thomas.

“The craftsmanship in it is truly over the top,” Thomas said.

Originally built in 2002, the home is fairly new with a modern design that makes the house move-in ready, Thomas told the Herald. The home has had two owners so far.

The north Bellingham property is about a 10-minute drive to the Bellingham International Airport and the downtown area. It’s also located close to the Bellis Fair mall.

Outside of the house, the 1-acre property features a fire pit seating area and an outdoor gazebo. It also has a creek and direct beach access via a private stone staircase.

“We place a lot of value on that” Thomas said. “It’s an easy walk down to the water where you can kayak, beach comb, swim, walk for miles.”

The property is also notable for its wildlife and bird watching, according to Thomas.
