The fraud victims of Peter Barry Stout, the former co-owner of RV Kingdom, decried a decision that allowed him to be paroled from prison in only eight months after he faced up to 10 years.
Stout was convicted of stealing thousands of dollars from his customers. He was ordered to pay more than $246,000 in restitution.
One of those victim, Pat Klossner, of Pullman, still had eight years of monthly payments of $436 to pay off a loan for an RV he never received from Stout.
“I guess crime pays better than working for a living,” Klossner said.
Ralph Kauffman of Spokane, another victim, said Stout “sure didn’t get what he deserves.”
Tickets to see President Ronald Reagan at the Spokane Coliseum were being made available at the office of Sen. Slade Gorton.
Only 1,000 to 1,500 of the tickets were being sold to the general public. Most were reserved for Republican donors and campaign supporters.
Gorton invited Reagan to Spokane to help Gorton in his bid to fend of Democratic challenger Brock Adams.
