A doctor’s confession to the city of Spokane
And why, despite all, I still do what I do…
Confessions are tough. Real tough. But sometimes a confession can set the record straight, and I want to give credit where credit is due. Before I talk about my confession though, let me say a few other things first.
Let me start by explaining the photo at the top. You know, when I meet people in town they usually say, “I know you, you’re Dr. Scott. I’ve seen your ad with that picture of you and the cute little kids.” I’m the guy in the middle.
Years ago, something happened to me that changed my life forever. Let me tell you my story…
Back then I was a Nuclear Engineer for the Government and developed excruciating nerve pain in my neck. The pain in my neck was so intense that I couldn’t move my head. Rolling over in bed at night was unbearably painful and kept me from getting any sleep. I was afraid that I’d lose my job if the disability continued since I could not climb around the ships and subs. The medical doctor I went to prescribed muscle relaxers and pain relievers but these did not help.
A friend of mine convinces me to give their doctor a try. This doctor does an exam, takes some films, and then ‘adjusts’ my spine. The adjustment doesn’t hurt, it actually feels good. I get relief, and I can turn my head and neck again. Oh, did I mention that this doctor is a chiropractor?
It works so well for me, and I’m so impressed with the other ‘miracles’ I see in his office, that I eventually go to chiropractic school myself. And that’s how it happened!
Now for Mary, who is on my left in the photo. She was born almost 7 weeks premature and had breathing problems. She took a steroid for a couple of weeks. However, we noticed the biggest improvement in her breathing after being adjusted. Then, after once getting her prescription filled with the wrong medication (luckily we caught it), we decided to try adjustments only. Tears well up inside me when I think what might have happened to my little girl if I had given her that wrong medication. The other two children, Mason and Michelle, get regular adjustments and have not had any of your ‘typical’ childhood diseases like colic, earaches, or ear infections.
It’s strange how life is. Now people come to see me with their neck pain. They also come to me with their headaches, sciatica, chronic pain, neuropathy, shoulder/arm pain, whiplash, backaches, knee and foot pain, and numbness in limbs.
Several times a day patients thank me for helping them with their health problems. But I can’t really take the credit. My confession is that I’ve never healed anyone of anything. What I do is perform a specific spinal adjustment to remove nerve pressure, and the body responds by healing itself. We get tremendous results. It’s as simple as that!
Being a chiropractor can be tough, because there’s a host of so-called experts out there. They tell people a lot of things that are just plain ridiculous about my profession. But studies speak for themselves, like the Virginia study that showed that over 90% of patients who saw a chiropractor were satisfied with their results.
Millions of Americans no longer have health insurance, and those who do have found that their benefits are reduced. That’s where chiropractic comes in. Many people find that they save money on their health care expenses by seeing a chiropractor because studies show that chiropractic may double your immune capacity naturally, and without drugs.
It shouldn’t cost you an arm and a leg to correct your health. You are going to write a check to someone for your health care expenses, you may as well write one for a lesser amount for chiropractic. You’ll get great care at a great fee. Swipe through the images at the top to read what my patients have to say. My qualifications… I’m a Cum Laude graduate of Palmer College who was nominated by his peers for Clinical Excellence.
