The Moses Lake police dog, Chief, is officially retiring months after getting shot in the eye in the line of duty.

Rescuers extricated the agent from the vehicle with a Jaws of Life hydraulic tool, and she was taken to a hospital with multiple injuries that were not life-threatening, the agency said.

Chief Craig Meidl and Capt. Tom Hendren said they believed that the context of the arrest led them to conclude the use of force was appropriate. They did not mention earlier conclusions that raised serious concerns about Officer Dan Lesser’s use of his K-9.
