Former Gonzaga standouts are on the move overseas as they continue their professional basketball careers. Nigel Williams-Goss, who helped the Zags reach the 2017 national championship game, has signed with Lokomotiv Kuban based in Krasnodar, Russia.

Gonzaga’s Joel Ayayi on Monday was named WCC player of the week, the fifth different Zag honored in six weeks this season.

The entire NCAA men's tournament will be held in Indiana, with the majority of the 67 games expected to be played in Indianapolis, the NCAA announced. That sparks good and not-so-good memories for top-ranked Gonzaga, which is well positioned thus far for a No. 1 seed. The Bulldogs defeated then No. 11 West Virginia 87-82 on Dec. 2 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. Three days later, the Gonzaga-Baylor showdown at the same venue was scrubbed about 80 minutes before tipoff a GU player and staff member tested positive for COVID-19.

Gonzaga added another No. 1 ranking to its resume Monday. The Zags debuted in the top spot in the NCAA Evaluation Tool, better known as the NET rankings. Baylor is No. 2, mirroring the top of the AP Top 25 and USA Today’s poll.

Gonzaga’s athletic department, facing financial strains caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, is asking men’s and women’s basketball season ticket holders for their help but not requiring it to retain their tickets down the road.

Elias Harris is on the move in his native Germany, but not too far. The former Gonzaga standout signed with MHP Reisen in Ludwigsburg, located about 40 miles north of Brose. Harris played the previous seven seasons professionally with Brose Bamberg.

Former Gonzaga guard Geno Crandall is continuing his professional career with the Leicester Riders, the British Basketball League (BBL) team announced Friday.

Gonzaga and 2019 champion Virginia are co-favorites to win next year’s national championship, according to sportsbetting.ag. Both are listed at +900, meaning a successful $100 bet would return $900.

Gonzaga beat Detroit Mercy 93-72 to complete non-conference play 14-1. The Zags will start the WCC slate on Thursday at Portland. In this win over the Titans, head coach Mark Few gave freshman Drew Timme the nod at starting. Timme replaced Killian Tillie as the senior was out to get a little more rest before conference.
