Shaquille O’Neal scored 33 points and the Suns overcame a 49-point performance by Kobe Bryant to beat the Los Angeles Lakers 118-111 at Phoenix. Matt Barnes added 26 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists as the Suns, without Steve Nash for the third straight game because of a sprained right ankle, beat the Lakers for the first time in four tries this season.

Lamar Odom made a pair of free throws with 16 seconds left in overtime to lead the Los Angeles Lakers to a 110-109 victory over host Boston on Thursday night and snap the Celtics’ 12-game winning streak. Kobe Bryant scored 26 points with 10 rebounds and Paul Gasol had 24 and 14 for the Lakers.

Kobe Bryant broke the record for the current Madison Square Garden with 61 points, and the Los Angeles Lakers looked plenty potent without Andrew Bynum in a 126-117 victory over the Knicks in New York. Bryant bettered Bernard King’s mark of 60 points at MSG, set on Christmas Day 1984, with two foul shots with 2:33 to play.

Kobe Bryant scored 22 points before sitting out the fourth quarter, Pau Gasol added 16 points, five rebounds and four assists, and the Lakers routed the San Antonio Spurs 99-85 Sunday at Los Angeles. The win was the fourth straight and 14th in 17 games for the Lakers (35-8), whose .814 winning percentage is the best in the NBA although the defending champion Boston Celtics (37-9) lead them by a half-game in the overall standings by virtue of their victory over Dallas.

Roger Mason hit a jumper with 10 seconds left and made a free throw after being fouled by Derrick Fisher, and the host San Antonio Spurs beat the Los Angeles Lakers 112-111 Wednesday in the first meeting between the teams since the Western Conference finals. The Lakers failed to get a final shot off when Trevor Ariza was called for traveling.
