Firefighters battling several brush fires near Coeur d’Alene Airport

North Idaho firefighters are battling several small brush fires near the Coeur d’Alene Airport. Jim Lyons, spokesman for Northern Lakes Fire District, said crews were battling about seven fires, though none have grown to the size of a wildfire. The first blazes sparked up at about 2 p.m. and spread from there.

Reg Flag Warning issued in Spokane County and surrounding areas until Saturday

Spokane will be under a Red Flag Warning from 2 p.m. today until 5 a.m. Saturday morning. A Red Flag Warning signals a high risk for fire. Windy weather, low humidity and high temperatures contribute to the possibility of fires. Other areas under the warning are Whitman, Adams, Grant and Douglas counties and southern portions of Okanogan, Pend Oreille, Stevens and Ferry counties as well as the Okanogan Valley in Okanogan County.
