Two Spokane police officers nabbed an Idaho murder suspect Saturday night. Officers Chris Johnson and Joe Matt arrested the suspect, James P. Mancuso, who matched the description of a reckless driver reported in the area of Freya and Upriver streets.

Fugitive found dead after SWAT standoff in Coeur d’Alene

A violent fugitive who barricaded himself inside a Coeur d’Alene house Saturday night was found dead when a SWAT team entered the residence Sunday morning. The Coeur d’Alene Police Department did not disclose how John David Crispin, 37, died. Crispin fired at least one round from a gun about 3:30 a.m. Sunday, and officers returned fire, police spokeswoman Sgt. Christie Wood said. No officers were injured in the exchange.

Oregon stalker’s van a ‘movable dungeon’

PORTLAND – Authorities say a man fatally shot by a Portland officer last month had been stalking young women in a van that he converted into a “movable dungeon” with chains and handcuffs after one of his victims managed to escape from it in January. Grand jury transcripts released Monday say Kelly Swoboda kept handwritten surveillance notes on about 20 women. He rated the women and marked whether they were alone.

Search for fugitive Minnesota camp leader again turns to Spokane

Minnesota investigators left Spokane empty-handed in 2012 after hoping to nab a self-proclaimed minister accused of sexually assaulting girls and young women at a secluded camp north of Minneapolis. Their attention has returned to the Inland Northwest after 59 criminal charges were filed last week against Victor A. Barnard, the 52-year-old reputed leader of the River Road Fellowship. A nationwide warrant has been issued for Barnard’s arrest, and the latest information places him in the Spokane area, where members of his group resettled.

Police say fugitives nabbed at motel wanted to die

A woman shot in the hand by a sniper with the Spokane County sheriff’s SWAT team during a motel standoff Tuesday morning told officers she would not surrender, according to court documents. Bonnie Ulrick, 37, was released from Harborview Medical Center in Seattle on Wednesday and jailed in King County as a fugitive.

FBI-wanted fugitive arrested in Portland

BILLINGS — A man who escaped from Montana police while being questioned about a reported sexual assault has been caught in Oregon. The U.S. Marshals Oregon Fugitive Task Force announced that Kevin Anthony Briggs was arrested in Portland on Friday night.

A man who fled sentencing on federal child pornography charges shot himself at a Nevada motel while on the lam, according to sheriff’s officials in Eureka County, Nev. Federal agents sought Daniel L. Camp, 33, for nearly a month after he skipped his sentencing hearing in Spokane federal court. He pleaded guilty to sharing and possessing child pornography last year.
