The University of Oklahoma says the “Sooner Schooner” will not run the rest of the season after it tipped over during a home game against West Virginia last Saturday. Oklahoma senior associate athletic director Kenny Mossman made the announcement in a statement on Tuesday.

He was 26-2 as a starter for Alabama, then completed 73 percent of his passes as a reserve last season. He has made an impression on the Sooners with his work ethic since landing on campus in January.

UCLA tops Oklahoma to win 13th national title

Kinsley Washington’s RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning lifted UCLA past Oklahoma 5-4, and the Bruins won the championship series 2-0. It is UCLA’s 13th national title and first since 2010.

Oklahoma football coach Lincoln Riley’s salary jumps to $6 million

Oklahoma football coach Lincoln Riley’s salary jumped to $6 million and he had his contract extended a year, through the 2023 season. Riley and Oklahoma’s Board of Regents agreed in principle to the extension and salary increase earlier in the month, and the board approved the numbers at their meeting. The 35-year-old Riley has led the Sooners to Big 12 championships and College Football Playoff appearances in both of his seasons as head coach.
