It won’t be hard to find hard liquor

It’s not exactly a gold rush. More like a mad dash to not be left behind when liquor sales go private in June. On June 1, the state’s roughly 330 liquor stores will be replaced by privately owned locations, possibly 1,200 or more of them, a change enacted by voter approval of Initiative 1183 last fall.

Coldwater Creek to sell 26.5 million shares at discount

Sandpoint women’s clothing retailer Coldwater Creek Inc. said it will sell 26.5 million shares of common stock and raise roughly $21.1 million and use the money to push through a difficult business cycle. In documents filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission, publicly traded Coldwater Creek said it’s likely to sell shares at 85 cents, a discounted price from its current trading price of 91 cents.

Response to online daily coupons losing deal for retailers

Suzzette Metcalfe, owner of Milwaukee’s Pasta Tree restaurant, picked up some marketing advice at a recent restaurant industry seminar in Las Vegas: Do not do Groupon. “But I’d already done it,” Metcalfe said. In fact, Pasta Tree’s recent Groupon offer of $40 worth of food and drink for $20 broke a local record for the category, selling 5,061 “Groupons.”
