Killings May Be Due To Claims Of Affair

The shooting deaths of two men at an apartment complex here last week may have been the result of an argument over an alleged affair, police say. Three men are being sought in Tuesday's shooting at Washington Park Apartments which killed Jose Luis Martinez Jr., 18, of Auburn, and a man in his early 20s, whose identity has not been released.

Police Seize Cocaine, Arrest Three Suspects

Police department drug investigators confiscated $35,000 worth of crack cocaine, $6,000 in cash and arrested three suspects on Dec. 30. Officers from the Special Investigations Unit and federal Drug Enforcement Agents used a search warrant at 2215 W. Boone and arrested Jesse L. Barker, who gave his address as 4666 W. Broadway, said police spokesman Dick Cottam. In a separate incident later that day, officers observed suspects entering and leaving 902 W. Maxwell, another apartment involved with drugs, Cottam said.

21-Time Convict Makes This Week’s Secret Witness

A Spokane man with 21 criminal convictions is this week's Secret Witness target. John Patrick Newkirk, 30, has a record dating back to a burglary conviction in 1984, police said. Since then, he has served time for theft, burglaries, drug possession and other crimes.

Airport Rape Suspect Surrenders In Hawaii

The man who allegedly raped a woman at the Portland airport in September has turned himself in to police in Hawaii. Blake Theron Neal, 29, surrendered in Kauai over the weekend, the Port of Portland said Monday.

Reward Offered To Catch Bank Robbers

Secret Witness will pay $1,000 to anyone who helps solve Thursday's Wells Fargo Bank heist. A man wielding a handgun walked into the North Division bank at 3:40 p.m. and demanded money. He took the cash and ran outside to a vehicle, described as either a Nissan Pathfinder or Plymouth Voyager. A second man drove off with the robber. No one was hurt. The robber was white, 6-foot-1, with bluish-gray eyes. He wore mustard-colored overalls, a ski mask, black steel-toed boots and black gloves. The car was dark blue or black. Secret Witness wants anyone with information to call 327-5111. Callers should use a code name or number to collect the reward.

Driver Stopped, Hits Officer, Escapes And Remains At Large

A 23-year-old Spokane man hit a female police officer in the chest and ran during a routine traffic stop Tuesday, police said. Jason A. Amour was stopped by an officer for a traffic violation on Division near Courtland about 7:15 p.m., police said.

Man Held After Highway Chase

A Pasco man wanted in Oregon was arrested Sunday after a chase down U.S. Highway 95. Kootenai County Sheriff's deputies arrested Larry D. Black, 34, on unspecified warrants issued in Oregon. Once in jail, officials found what appeared to be methamphetamine.
