Victim of Sunday hit-and-run homicide identified, bail set for suspect

The victim of an alleged hit-and-run early Sunday morning has been identified as 30-year-old Don Mielike. Mielike succumbed to injuries to his head, chest and extremities as a result of being run over by a car traveling in excess of 30 mph, newly released court documents say.

Truck hits, kills bicyclist near Chelan Airport

CHELAN, Wash. – The Chelan County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a hit-and-run accident that left a 50-year-old bicyclist dead. Officials say Gary Knowlton of Brewster was riding his bicycle on Apple Acres Road near the Chelan Airport on Saturday when he was struck by what was believed to be a red truck. The truck fled the scene.

A Medical Lake man is lucky to be alive after he was apparently hit by a car Sunday night as he walked to a gas station near his home. Rick Johnson landed, unconscious and with broken bones, along Geiger Boulevard near exit 272 of Interstate 90 just before midnight. Now his family wants to find out what happened as Johnson recovers in a hospital.
