Palin endorses Ward in Idaho race

BOISE – Sarah Palin has endorsed Vaughn Ward in Idaho’s 1st U.S. Congressional District GOP primary, adding oomph to a race in which the two leading contenders have been trying to out-conservative each other. “I’m happy to support Vaughn Ward because I know that he believes in the same common-sense conservative ideals that we cherish,” the former Alaska governor said in an announcement. She also endorsed two other veterans who are seeking congressional seats in Florida and Illinois.

Now that I’m a citizen, I can do this.”

As eyes turn toward Minnick, Idaho district takes rare spotlight

Most years, Idaho’s congressional races inspire yawns among the nation’s political cognoscenti. It’s likely 2010 will not be one of those years. Idaho’s sprawling 1st District House race is at or near the top of several lists of races to watch in the midterm election. Publications like Congress Daily and the Hill both flagged it last month, as did the Rothenburg Report, and it’s on top of the “Swing State Prospect” list of races featuring a Democrat – Walt Minnick – in a Republican-leaning district.
