WATCH: Gonzaga pushes past San Diego for 12th-straight victory

San Diego hung tough with No. 4 Gonzaga most of the way, but the Bulldogs surged away in the second half as Rui Hachimura had 32 points, Zach Norvell Jr. added 21 and Josh Perkins chipped in 12 with six assists. GU moves to 8-0 in WCC play after the 85-69 victory over San Diego.

The Spokesman-Review’s Theo Lawson is one of 65 national media members voting in the Associated Press Top 25 basketball poll this season. Every week throughout the 2018-19 campaign, he’ll break down he voted, offering three thoughts on the latest edition of the poll, an update on the Pac-12’s ranked teams and a look at local Top 25 representative Gonzaga.

Highlights: Gonzaga 96, San Francisco 83

Duke, Tennessee, and now San Francisco. Gonzaga has been involved in three of the best games in college basketball with the season barely past the midpoint. It won’t go down alongside those classics against the Blue Devils and Volunteers, but that’s only because the Dons don’t carry a national ranking and because the Zags’ execution in the final minutes was nearly flawless, turning a nailbiter into a 13-point win that was much closer for 39 minutes. -- Jim Meehan
