Then and Now: Union Station

Historian Robert Hyslop, in his book “Spokane Building Blocks,” explains why Spokane’s Union Station, shown under construction in 1913, was called a station and not a depot. There had already been a Union Depot in Spokane serving the OR&N, the Union Pacific and the Great Northern in Spokane’s earliest days. Dodgers beat Brewers in Game 7, face Red Sox in World Series

Yasiel Puig hit a three-run homer, Chris Taylor made a key catch and the Los Angeles Dodgers reached the World Series for the second straight year, beating the Milwaukee Brewers 5-1 in Game 7 of the National League Championship Series. Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw closed out the win, setting up a showdown with the Boston Red Sox starting Tuesday night at Fenway Park. Los Angeles fell short last year, losing to Houston in Game 7.

Jesus Aguilar, Brewers beat Dodgers 7-2, send NLCS to Game 7

Jesus Aguilar and the Milwaukee Brewers forced the NL Championship Series to Game 7, bolting to a big lead and handing it to their dominant bullpen in a 7-2 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers. Aguilar hit a two-run double in the Brewers’ four-run first inning against Hyun-Jin Ryu and added a late RBI single that helped the Brewers even the matchup at three games each. Game 7 is Saturday night at Miller Park with Dodgers rookie Walker Buehler facing journeyman Jhoulys Chacin.

NLCS tied: Cody Bellinger lifts Dodgers over Brewers 2-1 in 13

Cody Bellinger singled home the winning run in the 13th inning, lifting the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 2-1 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers and tying the NL Championship Series at two games apiece. Bellinger grounded a 3-2 pitch from Junior Guerra into right field, scoring Manny Machado, who slid home and touched the plate with his left hand to beat the tag and end a thriller that took 5 hours, 15 minutes.
