Beyond zoning: Residents discuss Pullman of the future

A handful of community members woke bright and early Tuesday morning and headed to the Pioneer Center in Pullman to discuss their 20-year visions for the city. It was the first public meeting of Pullman 2040, an organization dedicated to developing a collective vision for the city and a way to accomplish it.

Whitworth students witness Trump inauguration protests, use of flash-bang grenades

The following is from Casey McClure, a Whitworth University student attending inauguration events as part of a class on the media: “Myself and three other students were walking back from the Inauguration when we ran into a massive protest. We stopped to take pictures and videos for a little while and then headed towards our hostel. We were one street away from the hostel when we heard a loud explosion; it was louder than a gun, but not as loud as a bomb. Next thing we know we see people one street up from us sprinting, so we knew that meant danger. The four of us ran into the closest restaurant and just waited. While inside we heard a second and third explosion, which ensued some panic.

OSU scientists sequence genome of beaver, school mascot

Scientists at Oregon State University have sequenced the beaver genome thanks to a 2015 crowdfunding effort. The Register-Guard reported that the funding drive raised $20,001 from 103 donors. OSU used the money to pay for research on the genetic code of its mascot animal, the North American beaver.

Breitbart editor Milo Yiannopoulos’ scheduled speech at Washington State University-Pullman tonight has been canceled, the WSU College Republicans announced on their Facebook page. The club said the cancellation is due to the continued closure of Interstate 90 and “unsafe conditions on all highways leading to Pullman.”
